whats is the best age for lasik eye surgery?

Filed under: lasik problem — admin @ 5:39 am

In college I had an eye problem and had to go to the university hospital. the head doctor there said i would be a great candidate for Lasik at the time. I was 21. I just recently went to an eye appointment at an America’s Best and the doctor there told me to weight until i was 28-30. i’ve heard of people having it sooner but no one that i know. Has anyone heard about the 28-30 bit?

Over 18, and with at least two year’s history of a stable Rx…
That is going to push many people to 24-25, but once there is good evidence that the eyes are going to stay near zero (for a good while at least) once they are reset to zero, there is no need to wait longer (all other factors been satisfactory, and the risks being accepted).

  1. I’ve actually never heard of that age range being suggested. I do know that lasik has no strict age requirement and most patients that apply or go into get it done are between the ages of 21-70. It might have been suggested that you postpone because you might not have reached eligibility standards. Theres an actual application and everything you must fill out to determine whether youd be a good candidate. You should call a lasik center near you and voice your questions, im sure they’ll be able to help you.

  2. No age category. Just when you’re ready and you must qualify with the thickness or the cornea etc. I had it done when it first came out. BTW, Tiger Woods had it done at the age of 23 and his golf career took off big time.

  4. Most doctors I have spoken to have said over 21. By that age, your eyes have already matured and developed.

I would recommend speaking with another surgeon and seeing what they would suggest. If you need help finding one, you can visit http://thelasikreview.com/lasik-yahoo.php . They offer a free consultation and determine whether or not you’re eligible. for the surgery.
