Comment posted What is the risk of lasik? by Sheena M.
I planned to do it until i found out that its not completely establised yet. You see, medical trials are to be traced over a long time to stamp them as completely safe, LASIK is quite recent as compared to a norm of trials. Some of the risks are, thinning of cornea leading to a condition called keratoconus, where your cornea kinda bulges out.
In fact a person i knew got it done 5 yrs back, she had a power of -5.00, now she’s a -9.00!
So, i suggest you wait, i’m waiting too. I got a lens power of -5.50

- LASIK eye surgery can perform miracles – it can give you relief from wearing corrective lenses. It can cure nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness. The procedure is quick and painless, offering almost immediate results. And due to advances in technology and the wide demand for this type of service, LASIK is quite economical.
According to FDA reports, nearly 100% of LASIK patients have good results and no complications, but you need to be aware that there are things that can and do go wrong. Some problems include double or triple vision, light distortion so severe that patients can’t drive at night, or eyes so dry that they have to wear goggles when going outside.
Some patients experience infections, inflammation of the eye, redness, blurriness or eye irritation. In many cases, LASIK eye surgery can eliminate your need for corrective lenses, but that’s not always the result. One of the most common complications of LASIK eye surgery is a slipped flap. The flap that was created during the LASIK procedure may become detached from the rest of the cornea.
Even without LASIK eye surgery, it’s expected that everyone’s eyes will change slightly with the passage of time – it’s just a natural part of life. After LASIK, your eyes will still follow their natural course of changing with time, so LASIK shouldn’t necessarily be considered a permanent solution.
For many who have chosen LASIK, it has meant that they are no longer dependent on corrective lenses in order to have good vision. It’s highly recommended that you talk with your doctor about LASIK and how any possible risks or side effects relate to your own personal circumstances.

Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.http://www.indianhealthguru.com

Less than 20 minutes, although you will need to have time to recuperate after the surgery (keep your eyes closed). I’ve laid out the step by step of the process and even included a video of the surgery itself at http://www.wika-lasik.com

13? Lasik at 13 years old? That’s interesting.Anyway…
LASIK is a very brief procedure. If everything goes well, it should be done in 15 minutes or less.
It’s usually done while the patient is awake. Topical (eye drops) anesthesia is used. Its not that uncomfortable to the patient.

I personally only know one child who had this defect. While I have temporarily lost contact with the family (military family, moved), he still had not needed to have surgery and he had just had his 3rd birthday.
